5 minutes with… Will Hindle

Emily Berry

Each month, we invite you to spend 5 minutes with a member of the team, to give you an insight into the people behind Beam Group. The round of quick-fire questions will give a snapshot of their day-to-day at Beam, and their thoughts of the industry.

This month, it’s the turn of Will Hindle, our Commercial Manager.

Tell us a bit about your role at Beam.
My role encompasses most aspects of the business, I oversee the internal sales office, stock planning and warehouse teams. In addition to this I work with our suppliers on a regular basis to ensure that we have the right stock available and that we can keep our customers competitive in the market place.

What brought you to work at Beam?
I came to Beam from the wider group that acquired the company in 2014 (Newbury Investments/Stearn Electric), I started working for Stearn in 2011 as a Commercial Trainee in Bristol, before taking internal and external sales roles. I then moved to Newbury as a Product Manager and then took up the role here as Commercial Manager in May 2015.

Do you think Beam will change much in the next 12 months? What can we expect in the future?
At the core of our business will always be the need to stock the right products from the right premium brands and service our customers quickly and efficiently from our own warehouse. However, the way we offer those products to our retailers and the support we give them will always evolve; the new trading website which offers retailers the ability to check our stock, their price and look at product details 24/7, 365 days a year is testament to that. In the future you will see us develop the ability to despatch products at weekends, making all of our stock holding available for direct delivery to an independent retailers’ customer, 7 days a week. The availability and delivery service will be beyond any current national retailer and will give our independents a huge advantage.

If you could use one word to describe working at Beam, what would it be?
I’m going to cheat and use a hyphen… Fast-paced!

What is your favourite meal to cook at home?
Spaghetti Carbonara (no ready-made sauces!), it’s quick and simple, but always hits the spot, the perfect weekday meal.
